the potential of scripted environments
as they can integrate and automate several
processes independently of software
constrains. With leveraging open
APIs and open source libraries, the processes
can be tailored automated in
different scales and scopes. With this
integration, the BIM execution plan will
store all the technical information of
the façade in one single interface.
An approximation of this dynamic
workflow for customized façade solutions
was created in the Master thesis
developed at the University of Applied
Sciences Detmold, Germany called
“Automation of Processes in the Façade
Engineering Field” (Ramírez, 2019).
In this research a BIM execution plan
was created and a guideline of how to
work in a collaborative environment
in Revit was generated (Figure 7). The
new platform supports the current
development stages of façade design
and automates certain processes with
the use of the graphical algorithm editor
called Dynamo. The new platform
avoids the human error and reduces
time schedule.
In a broader view, the BIM execution
plan shows the potential of having a
full facade life-cycle. At the culmination
of all the BIM modeling throughout the
project, the model will include operation
and maintenance as well. Information
