Avoid your worst nightmare!<br />

Information and communication systems are essentially comprised<br />

of highly sensitive microelectronic components. These electronics<br />

react sensitively to excessive temperatures and extreme humidity.<br />

In case of fire (which unfortunately can happen anywhere and<br />

everywhere), important systems are liable to failure or destruction.<br />

Here, Lampertz offers protection in a variety of categories – right up<br />

to data protection rooms to EN 1047-2. Even if the surrounding<br />

rooms are engulfed by flames for 60 minutes, the temperature inside<br />

will not exceed 70°C, while humidity will not exceed 85 %. Standing<br />

water from extinguisher systems and sprayed water will not ingress<br />

for a minimum of 72 hours.<br />

By way of comparison, in conventionally designed IT rooms, the<br />

temperature will rise to above 70°C in just 20 minutes, and after just<br />

15 minutes the humidity will have risen to 100 %!<br />

Keep smoke and lightning out!<br />

Studies of fires in companies have revealed that smoke and gases<br />

cause the greatest damage. These can be highly toxic, spread<br />

rapidly throughout the entire building, penetrate everything, and<br />

solidify. This then also affects ITC systems, which may need to be<br />

discarded if contaminated.<br />

Other potential risks are associated with lightning strikes on the<br />

electricity supply. This creates voltage peaks, to which your systems<br />

will react sensitively. Depending on the strength of the lightning<br />

strike, you systems may fail or even be destroyed.<br />

power supply). These reliably filter out overvoltage – such<br />

as that caused by lightning – and continue to supply your systems<br />

with power in the event of a power failure.<br />

the clock<br />

If ITC systems are subjected to severe stresses and demands, the<br />

temperature in computer and telecommunications rooms and data<br />

centres can soon rise. This is particularly true of so-called hot spots,<br />

where heat generation is above average. If critical values are<br />

reached, this can lead to overheating of the electronic components,<br />

and ultimately to the failure of servers, computers or even the entire<br />

ITC infrastructure.<br />

Apart from heat, overvoltage is another sensitive topic for computers,<br />

servers and other IT components. Fluctuations in the electricity<br />

grid from a variety of causes can influence the function of memory<br />

chips, processors etc. or even destroy them in a flash. Before you<br />

know it, nothing is working!<br />
