Lampertz – Risk minimisation is a management task
Avoid your worst nightmare!
Information and communication systems are essentially comprised
of highly sensitive microelectronic components. These electronics
react sensitively to excessive temperatures and extreme humidity.
In case of fire (which unfortunately can happen anywhere and
everywhere), important systems are liable to failure or destruction.
Here, Lampertz offers protection in a variety of categories – right up
to data protection rooms to EN 1047-2. Even if the surrounding
rooms are engulfed by flames for 60 minutes, the temperature inside
will not exceed 70°C, while humidity will not exceed 85 %. Standing
water from extinguisher systems and sprayed water will not ingress
for a minimum of 72 hours.
By way of comparison, in conventionally designed IT rooms, the
temperature will rise to above 70°C in just 20 minutes, and after just
15 minutes the humidity will have risen to 100 %!
Keep smoke and lightning out!
Studies of fires in companies have revealed that smoke and gases
cause the greatest damage. These can be highly toxic, spread
rapidly throughout the entire building, penetrate everything, and
solidify. This then also affects ITC systems, which may need to be
discarded if contaminated.
Lampertz offers smoke-proof solutions which reliably protect your
systems from fire.
Other potential risks are associated with lightning strikes on the
electricity supply. This creates voltage peaks, to which your systems
will react sensitively. Depending on the strength of the lightning
strike, you systems may fail or even be destroyed.
Here, Lampertz offers security concepts with integral UPS (uninterruptible
power supply). These reliably filter out overvoltage – such
as that caused by lightning – and continue to supply your systems
with power in the event of a power failure.
This helps to avoid expensive system downtime.
The right temperature and voltage, around
the clock
If ITC systems are subjected to severe stresses and demands, the
temperature in computer and telecommunications rooms and data
centres can soon rise. This is particularly true of so-called hot spots,
where heat generation is above average. If critical values are
reached, this can lead to overheating of the electronic components,
and ultimately to the failure of servers, computers or even the entire
ITC infrastructure.

Apart from heat, overvoltage is another sensitive topic for computers,
servers and other IT components. Fluctuations in the electricity
grid from a variety of causes can influence the function of memory
chips, processors etc. or even destroy them in a flash. Before you
know it, nothing is working!
