offerings took place when Lucius Pettius was meddix.

sacrifice took place when Lucius Pettius was meddix.
The first four inscriptions make it clear that the presence of a public officer was
fundamental for a sacrifice to take place or to validate an offering. The official of the
state therefore does not appear in these inscriptions to date the events, and this is why
his name is omitted438. Where names of magistrates are given, they are in the
genitive singular and the offices in the locative case: medikkiai is attested in the
