Here again the poet knew perfectly well that he might<br />

rely upon the eye and ear of his actors ;<br />

they would be<br />

sure to detect the verses. Not so the editor and<br />

translator of to-day, who would be disappointed<br />

if<br />

depended upon his readers to detect hidden rhymes or<br />

verses in a prose work.<br />
