a. Single alkaline batteries are disposed of as plant trash.<br />
b. All other types of batteries are recycled through the ISW program in accordance with<br />
Chapter 3, Managing Industrial Solid Waste.<br />
4.3.2.3 Cardboard<br />
a. Place all recyclable cardboard in the designated recycling location for your area.<br />
b. Some cardboard is not suitable for recycling. Refer to Chapter 3, Managing Industrial Solid<br />
Waste for information on chemical, oil, or grease contaminated cardboard. Paperboard such<br />
as cereal boxes, cardboard with wax coating, and cardboard with food/beverage residue or<br />
excess moisture or excess moisture may be thrown in the regular trash.<br />

4.3.2.4 Construction and Demolition (C&D)<br />
a. Recycling shall be included in the planning process of any C&D, addressing the specs in<br />
contracts and necessary recordkeeping.<br />
b. Building materials from C&D projects shall be recycled and reused to the maximum extent<br />
possible. The method of recycling is dependent upon the nature and quantity of the material,<br />
the type of project and the contractor.<br />
c. Recyclable and reusable materials not handled through the project shall be recycled through<br />
other JSC recycling and reuse programs.<br />
d. PMs shall contact the Logistics Office to coordinate roll-off delivery and pickup, and other<br />
transportation services.<br />
e. Under no circumstances shall recyclable materials be sent to a landfill.<br />
4.3.2.5 Fluorescent Lamps<br />
All fluorescent lamps shall be recycled through the ISW Program. Refer to Chapter 3,<br />
Managing Industrial Solid Waste for requirements on managing this type of waste.<br />
4.3.2.6 Mixed Office Paper<br />
a. Waste office paper shall be placed in the designated recycling container for your area.<br />
b. The Custodial Staff shall empty the containers on a regular basis.<br />
c. If the container becomes full before its regularly scheduled pickup, the Custodial Contractor<br />
X39563 shall be contacted.<br />
d. Table 4-1provides a list of recyclable and non-recyclable paper items that shall be followed.<br />
