a. Empty cartridges shall be placed into a cartridge recycle box or an appropriately labeled<br />

empty cardboard box. All cartridges may be recycled, including ink jet, laser, black and white<br />

or color. Boxes are usually located near the main copy machines in each building or on<br />

designated floors within buildings.<br />

b. Logistics Work Control X42222 shall be contacted with questions about toner cartridge<br />

recycling.<br />

4.3.2.11 Wooden Pallets<br />

The Center Operations Directorate Logistics Transportation Department X36563 shall be<br />

contacted to request pickup of wooden pallets for on-site reuse or off-site refurbishment.<br />

4.3.3 Reuse Programs<br />

Reuse refers to those materials or components of solid waste that can be used in their original<br />

form more than once. Reuse is managed through JSC’s R&U department. It is responsible for<br />

collecting, sorting, distributing and selling usable but no longer needed items. JSC has several<br />

existing reuse programs:<br />

4.3.3.1 Electronics<br />

a. The JSC Supply and Support Services organization shall be contacted to donate electronics<br />

(typewriters, printers, calculators, overhead projectors, electronic copy boards) and computer<br />

equipment for reuse.<br />

b. The person turning in the equipment shall complete and sign a ―Property Pass Request and<br />

Removal Permit.‖ Refer to <strong>JPR</strong> 4300 for more information.<br />

4.3.3.2 Government Property<br />

a. Government property that is excess to the organization shall be turned in using form 25A.<br />

b. No property shall be thrown in the trash.<br />

c. For assistance, Facilities Work Control X42222 shall be contacted.<br />

4.3.3.3 Office Supplies<br />

a. Excess office supplies shall be boxed.<br />

b. Property Disposal X37947 or jsc-excesspr@mail.nasa.gov) shall be contacted for pickup.<br />

No paperwork is necessary.<br />

4.3.3.4 Furniture<br />

Logistics Work Control X42222 shall be contacted for pickup of unwanted furniture.<br />
