a. Assure no unauthorized release of pollutants occur from activities under their control or
direction;
b. Report inappropriate activities or discharges to their supervisor or the SWPPT;
c. Abide by sections in the SWPPPs that are applicable to their activities; and
d. Follow BMPs when conducting specific activities outdoors or anywhere that rainfall may
contact materials.
6.4.2 FMs shall:
a. Review activities and facilities under their authorization to ensure they comply with the
SWPPPs;
b. Know the facilities and operations in their areas of responsibility that are, or have the
potential to be, sources of pollution introduced to the storm sewer system;
c. Review the applicable requirements in the SWPPP during their required periodic facility
inspections in order to ensure that no pollutants enter storm water; and
d. Initiate corrective action when problems or non-conformances associated with their facilities
are identified or reported to them.
6.4.3 DLOs shall:
a. Incorporate requirements identified in the SWPPPs into all applicable activities and
contracts;
b. Provide representation on the SWPPT if affected by the SWPPPs to aid in the development
and management of the storm water program;
c. Assist in implementing corrective action when problems are identified in their organization;
d. Ensure employees follow applicable requirements in the SWPPPs, including following
BMPs;
e. Ensure only permissible discharges to storm water occur from operations conducted by their
organization and facilities;
f. Ensure equipment operated by the DLO is inspected, maintained, and repaired adequately to
prevent pollution of storm water;
g. Include applicable storm water pollution prevention requirements in local procedures
(directorate level or below, including on-site contractor specific procedures); and
h. Contact the EO or the JSC Center Operations Directorate Planning and Integration Office
(PIO) during the planning stages of any projects that would disturb soil of one acre or more in
order to identify and comply with all the associated requirements.
