Being an industry leader one needs to<br />

be continuously innovative in many<br />

aspects, be it the product design or its<br />

marketing approach. Innovation brings<br />

recognition and very often it comes<br />

with a decent monetary return.<br />

One may ask, how can a conventional<br />

outdoor media format be innovative<br />

and what would be the risk Historically<br />

outdoor media expenditure in Malaysia<br />

has grown by leaps and bounce but<br />

lacks creativity. Thus, Big Tree group<br />

has taken the lead not only to be<br />

strategic in its marketing approach,<br />

new creative product roll-out and<br />

aesthetic looks of structure designs<br />

were the main emphasis for new<br />

product development.<br />

Again, Big Tree recently set another<br />

new standard by upgrading some<br />

prime assets to out-of-home digital<br />

media and was proven successful.<br />

More new product designs were<br />

launched since then and a whole<br />

new outdoor media landscape was<br />

born in the heart of KL city center,<br />

which has further strengthened our<br />

leadership positioning.<br />

At Big Tree, we redefine the standard<br />

The huge technological leap is<br />

redefining the way how our editors at<br />

NSTP work and operate. As a<br />

newspaper company with a 168-year<br />

history, we have to continue pushing<br />

beyond traditional limits and setting<br />

higher standards in journalism in order<br />

to remain relevant in this challenging<br />

times. Our three newspapers in the<br />

group, the New Straits Times, BH and<br />

Harian Metro, have been on the<br />

forefronts in harnessing the power of<br />

social media, mobile platforms and<br />

video to help enhance the delivery<br />

and quality of content to cater for our<br />

growing readership base.<br />

I really admire the great leadership<br />

quality of Manchester United’s Sir<br />

Alex Ferguson in taking the famous<br />

football team to where it is today.<br />

NSTP inspires to remain in the top of<br />

the league through innovation and<br />

transformation. We will continue to<br />

get the best out of our talented pool<br />

of writers, sub-editors, photographers<br />

and editors. With the right skills and<br />

strong work culture, we can build<br />

further on our successes.<br />

MPB television newsrooms are changing<br />

their priorities to become information<br />

providers. This is in line with the changing<br />

of the broadcast landscape with the<br />

booming of the social media such as<br />

websites, Facebook and Twitter. We have<br />

to develop a strategy as to engage or to<br />

reach our potential viewers while they are<br />

hanging out or on the move. With the<br />

changing landscape, it’s easy to assume<br />

that traditional tv news won’t survive<br />

much longer. But as a successful network,<br />

MPB can boost the odds of being around<br />

through the decades by focussing on<br />

what has gotten us to this point – solid,<br />

accurate reporting, creative visual<br />

presentation and credible tv personalities<br />

who form long-lasting relationship with<br />

their audience.<br />

We need to ensure that we are reflecting<br />

all the diversity and richness this country<br />

to offer in order to continually be<br />

relevant and meaningful. Be it in the<br />

shows we produce, the stories we tell,<br />

the personnel touch we make and the<br />

people we work with – this is our goal.<br />

Mind you, Malaysians come to MPB for<br />

engaging, informative and high-quality<br />

content that they cannot find anywhere<br />

else. With our strategic plan we hope to<br />

continue to engage, inform and connect<br />

citizens from all background on issues<br />

that matter.<br />

With a mandate to connect all<br />

Malaysians (in Bahasa, English and<br />

Mandarin), whether on air or behind the<br />

scenes, working with MPB means<br />

joining an organization that encourages<br />

innovation and creativity. We are proud<br />

and blessed to be part of a dynamic<br />
