For Anugerah Juara Lagu 26 (www.tv3.com.my/ajl26),<br />
it garnered over 260,000 page views during the live<br />
streaming of the Red Carpet, Behind-The-Scenes and<br />
Awards Show on 29 January <strong>2012</strong>. On the social<br />
media front, its hashtag (#ajl26) trended on Twitter at<br />
the Number 1 spot in Malaysia on the event night with<br />
94,000 tweets by 21,700 Twitter users. For the first<br />
time, a “backstage social network party” was held at<br />
the event, which gave “special access” to popular<br />
Twitter users. The event, which was also streamed<br />
globally, had 11% of the online viewers coming from<br />
countries like Singapore, Brunei, United Kingdom,<br />
Egypt, Australia and many more. Additionally, catch up<br />
video views on Tonton for the awards have surpassed<br />
56,000. Anugerah Juara Lagu 26’s online campaign<br />
certainly pushed the boundaries on social engagement<br />
which resulted in the campaign receiving the Gold<br />
Award for the Best Online Driver category at the<br />
inaugural Marketing Events Awards <strong>2012</strong>, held in<br />
Singapore in November <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
Tonton (www.tonton.com.my)<br />
Tonton (www.tonton.com.my) <strong>2012</strong> was remarkable<br />
year for Tonton. Ahead of its competitor, Tonton has<br />
a strong foothold as the No. 1 Malaysian video portal<br />
(Source: comScore) with over 2.8 million registered<br />
users (Source: Omniture Site Catalyst).<br />
On the 10th of May <strong>2012</strong>, Tonton was awarded a<br />
GoMobile inOvation Malaysia Award (Entertainment<br />
Category) at GoMobile Awards <strong>2012</strong>. The inOvation<br />
Malaysia Award honours and recognises innovative<br />
and outstanding achievements and ventures in mobile<br />
products and solutions. Selection of winners was<br />
made by key people from the ‘mobile industry’ in<br />
Malaysia.<br />
In September, <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Prima</strong> Digital embarked on a<br />
new partnership with Samsung Malaysia Electronics<br />
to expand Tonton’s variety of content offerings for<br />
the Samsung SMART TV. The partnership was<br />
officiated through a Memorandum of Understanding<br />
(MoU) and this collaboration will see the<br />
development of Malaysia’s first entertainment<br />
streaming application on a SMART TV platform<br />
with Tonton. This innovative application will be<br />
launched in Q2 2013 and will enable consumers to<br />
enjoy an array of local and international content –<br />
all on the Samsung SMART TV and in the comfort<br />
of their own home.<br />
In line with Tonton’s expansion plans, “TV<br />
EVERYWHERE” (www.tonton.com.my/livetv) was<br />
rolled out in November for viewers in Malaysia to<br />
watch <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Prima</strong>’s TV Networks (TV3, ntv7, 8TV<br />
and TV9) and RT Global (news channel) live.<br />
<strong>2012</strong> was a fantastic run for <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Prima</strong> Digital and<br />
will continue to drive <strong>Media</strong> <strong>Prima</strong> to excel in the<br />
forefront of digital media with exciting and innovative<br />
strategies and developments in the new year.<br />
MOVING FORWARD<br />
We are cautiously optimistic for the year 2013<br />
given signs of improvement of the global economy<br />
coupled with Malaysia strong fundamentals. Many<br />
Entry Point Projects, such as the MRT, are likely to<br />
have a cascading effect on the economy, building<br />
consumer and corporate confidence, which will<br />
help improve advertising expenditure.<br />
Concurrently, we will continue to grow each of our<br />
six main business units by focusing on content and<br />
expending our reach to our target markets. Our<br />
emphasis will be on cross-media integration and<br />
agnostic, whilst offering more attractive and<br />
effective solutions to our advertisers.<br />
We are collaborating with the Multimedia<br />
Development Corporation (MDec), Cradle Fund Sdn<br />
Bhd and Rhythm and Hues Studio on a programme<br />
called The Next Big Thing. Under this programme,<br />
various new short animation content from up and<br />
coming talents and animation companies will be<br />
housed in Tonton.<br />
