TT may not be out of place here to make a few<br />

remarks on the future blockade of the<br />

coast, and on the necessity of a sufi&cient<br />

number of cruisers be<strong>in</strong>g stationed on it, if the<br />

subject is to be dealt with earnestly. In<br />

addition to other measures for the suppression<br />

of the slave-trade, it will be necessary to<br />

<strong>in</strong>crease the squadron on the station consider*,<br />

ably <strong>in</strong> order to make the blockade effective, and<br />

tak<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to consideration the fact that some of<br />
