" Antananarivo, 6 Adizadza (3Iarch 19, 1869).<br />

" CjIR,—I write this letter to tell you the<br />

^ words uttered by the Prime M<strong>in</strong>ister.<br />

"He has received a letter from the Governor of<br />

Mojanga, dated the 6th Adaoro (17th February),<br />

report<strong>in</strong>g two Arab dhows, with 194 Mozambiques.<br />

When the Governor saw these dhows<br />

with Mozambiques, they appeared suspicious, as<br />

they were not mak<strong>in</strong>g for the port, but steer<strong>in</strong>g<br />

west, the other side of the forest. He therefore<br />

sent officers <strong>in</strong> a boat to reconnoitre. <strong>The</strong>se<br />

officers, see<strong>in</strong>g the number of Mozambiques <strong>in</strong><br />

the dhows, seized the Arabs and the whole of<br />

the Mozambiques, and took them before the<br />

Governor of Mojanga. When land<strong>in</strong>g the 194<br />

Mozambiques, fifteen died of starvation, there<br />

be<strong>in</strong>g no provisions on board the dhows.<br />
