H<strong>in</strong>doos, when, if he adopts any religion, it is<br />

I ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>, therefore, that it is England's<br />

bounden duty to give at least two years' <strong>in</strong>struction<br />

to every adult slave she liberates, and a<br />

fair education to the children.<br />

If we liberate a thousand negroes a year,<br />

which is improbable, we should never have more<br />

than two thousand under <strong>in</strong>struction at a time<br />

—which would not be a very costly undertak<strong>in</strong>g<br />

when we consider how much money is spent at<br />

home <strong>in</strong> education.<br />
