Surely with such a field as this, there is no<br />

need to send all the missionaries to the West<br />

Indies or the Figi Islands, &c. Better save these<br />

from Mohammedanism and H<strong>in</strong>dooism, than<br />

when become such, try<strong>in</strong>g to convert them aga<strong>in</strong><br />

to Christianity. Mission schools here, and <strong>in</strong><br />

many other depots for the liberated Africans,<br />

would be of <strong>in</strong>calculable benefit, especially if the<br />

stream of these Africans could be directed back<br />

<strong>in</strong>to the <strong>in</strong>terior. At present the garrison<br />

church is the only one at Aden.<br />

Have we noth<strong>in</strong>g more to offer the liberated<br />

negro but his freedom ? enhanc<strong>in</strong>g as we do <strong>in</strong><br />

releas<strong>in</strong>g him the misery of ten others of his<br />

own race.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is only one greater evil for the negro
