slaves are received by the purchasers seemed to<br />

be of great importance for the capture of the<br />

slave-ships.<br />

forwards to you a letter addressed to her<br />

Majesty the Queen of England, <strong>in</strong> which he<br />

expresses his determ<strong>in</strong>ation to abolish the slavetrade,<br />

and with this view he prays the help<br />

the English officials, and particularly your own.<br />

As to the way <strong>in</strong> which your assistance will<br />

probably be required, experience must decide,<br />

as many conflict<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>terests will have to be<br />

combated, and particularly dissensions with the<br />
