I think the Doctor came home to
England and
represented the flourishing state of affairs in
1859, and we found the altered state of things in
1861 ; the inhabitants of that district were a
very industrious and intelligent race ; they
had an immense quantity of iron all through the
country; coal also was found there, and gold;
and copper was taken away to the coast in the
form of malachite."
