Setting parameters04/07 AWB8230-1541GBThermal overloadUsing an electronically simulated bimetallic strip, the DF51frequency inverters can provide thermal monitoring of theconnected motor. With PNU b012, match the electronic motorprotection to the motor’s rated current. If the values entered hereexceed the rated motor current, the motor cannot be monitoredwith this function. In this case, PTC thermistors or bimetal contactsin the motor windings must be used.Adjust the current indicated by PNU d002 to the current drawn bythe motor. The current indicated under PNU d002 forms the basisfor calibrating the electronic motor protection.h Attention! At low motor speeds, the output of the motor cooling fanis diminished, and the motor may overheat despite itselectronic overload protection. You should thereforeprovide protection with PTC thermistors or bimetalcontacts.Use PNU b013 to match the overload protection to your loadconditions. You have three options (a fig. 123 to fig. 125):• Enhanced motor protection; value: 00• Normal motor protection; value: 01 (default)• Adjustable overload protection; value: 02I[%]10080605 20 60f [Hz]Figure 123: Enhanced overload protection (PNU b013 = 00)I[%]10066.75 60f [Hz]Figure 124: Normal overload protection (PNU b013 = 01)I[%]100805 20 60f [Hz]Figure 125:Adjustable overload protection; value(PNU b013 = 02)PNU Designation RUN b31 =10Value Function DSb012b212Thermaloverload,tripping current– j Depending onfrequencyinverter’s ratedcurrent (I e)1)Setting range of the tripping current as a multiple of the frequencyinverter rated current, i.e. the range is given in amperes (A).xxb013Thermaloverload,characteristic(torque curve)– j The electronic thermal protection of the motor in the low speed range can be increased toimprove thermal monitoring of the motor at low frequencies.I 2 : Output currentb213 00 Reduced torque 11) <strong>Frequency</strong> inverter rated current01 Constant torque02 Reduced torque 201116
