D E P A R T M E N T O F D E F E N C EThe audit on tangible assets has registered progress, with theaudit <strong>of</strong> the immovable assets, such as properties and thelarge assets including transportation and equipment, alreadycompleted.In order <strong>to</strong> sustain the achieved audit results, the DOD has,during the period under review, embarked on a process <strong>to</strong>ensure robust internal controls. The Accounting Officer andChief Financial Officer <strong>of</strong> the DOD were appointed witheffect from 01 April 2010 and 01 May 2010 respectively.These appointments have contributed <strong>to</strong> stability in the DODaudit process. To complement this, the Minister has appointedthe Compliance Officer in the Ministry <strong>to</strong> focus on DODcompliance with all applicable regula<strong>to</strong>ry frameworks.FY2011/12 will see further consolidation <strong>of</strong> the DOD financialmanagement and internal control system through theimplementation <strong>of</strong> the DOD Internal Audit Function. The oneremaining audit qualification in the area <strong>of</strong> defence assetsremained a focus in the reporting year.(N.Z.H.
