RICHARD ALLEN SCOTT THROUGH THE YEARS He continued to serve in the RAF after the war, flying missions of mercy in eastern and northern England, where severe weather necessitated the airlifting of supplies to remote areas. He attained the commissioned rank of Flight Lieutenant (F/Lt). These are the only photos of my father during his early years. TOM (26 years) & JOHN SCOTT (16 years) – c.1940 1943 1943 1943 1944 or 1945 According to his marriage certificate he lived at 515 Lordship Lane, Wood Green, London, I’m assuming with his older brother Tom. The photo to the right may be of properties that replaced those from the 1940’s. He married Jean Marion Lowen, August 1 st 1946 at the Registrar’s Office in Edmonton, Middlesex, and was released from the RAF February 14 th 1947. His work took him all over England and Scotland, and as I recall, he was away from home for a week or 2 weeks at a time. A jacket, shirt, and tie was the standard of dress at the time, even for outdoor work. We never owned a car in England, but he used a government Land Rover for work. 1956 June 2017 4
