THROUGH THE YEARS
I started cubs that year and stayed with the scouting movement until my teen years. Note the
decline in attitude as I progressed through the ranks – I mean, who wants to knock on doors
selling oranges when you’re a cool teenager?

As a Scout
Just plain miserable
As a Scout, I remember doing a winter camp
on the front grounds of the city hall (on the right
in this picture), in a canvas tent, for some
purpose or other. My God it was cold. The
canvas froze solid from the condensation of our
breath inside.
Later, in high school, as part of our art classes, I painted murals in the Simpsons department
store windows. (on the left in this picture).
