RICHARD ALLEN SCOTT THROUGH THE YEARS 1997 This Spring, Sharon and I, along with a staff writer from The Quarterly RCMP magazine, put together an article concerning her grandfather, Frederick Camm, and her father, both of whom were Sergeant-Majors in the Force. It paid tribute to the memorabilia Sharon has collected over the years. It was published in Volume 62, No 3, Summer 1997. This was Timothy’s big year. Graduation from the Royal Military College of Canada with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, with 2 nd class honours, and a commission as a Sub-Lieutenant. Mum flew in for the day, bless her heart, she was 78 years old, and Bob and Lorraine also attended the degree awarding ceremony. Tim was posted to a Reserve unit in Toronto, so would have to find a job there. Shortly after that, he was advised that there were no Reserve positions available (the Armed Forces was going through a draw-down), so his 5-year commitment was null and void, and he was free to carry on with his life…he’d just completed the hardest 4-year University training in the country for free! You couldn’t even begin to buy the network that he had developed. June 2017 194
