THROUGH THE YEARS
In October, Sharon and I took an Armed Forces flight to
Trenton, rented a car and drove to Kingston to see Tim,
now newly but fully ensconced in his military schooling
and all that it entailed. Four years of tough academics
and physical training, a week in English and a week in
French.

Tim used to sneak phone calls to us
at night (cadets weren’t allowed to
call home) looking for moral
support…which he got lots of.
This year, I finally took a trip to Thompson, Manitoba,
having put off that travel for some time. Sharon and I
both went, via the noisy RCMP Twin Otter. We had to
make a scheduled stop at an Indian Reserve (First
Nation) I think at Gods Lake Narrows, a fly-in spot about
1½ hours flying time from Winnipeg. From there it was
about another 45 minutes to Thompson. Not a place I’d
ever want to be.
In November, we bade farewell to our
Commanding Officer who had been promoted to
Deputy Commissioner with a posting to Ottawa.

The twins did their duty admirably once
again. Always lots of nice comments on their
bearing, demeanour, politeness, efficiency,
etc.!
