THROUGH THE YEARS
During this year my Crime Prevention Unit went from just me to 4 additional staff, including a
civilian, Rita, shown here with me in our own office in the Detachment. I also had a couple of
summer-students, funded by a special programme, engaged on different projects. One of those
projects was the development of a Kindergarten to Grade 12 program that addressed a variety
of subjects at the various comprehension levels. It was such a hit that it was distributed
nationally to police forces by the federal Solicitor-General’s office.
Had my 10-year ident. photo taken – and got a note back from HQ saying “…moustache may
require some attention”. Starting to rebel!
I created and delivered numerous presentations/
training on a variety of public safety topics (e.g.: Rape
Prevention, Child Molestation Prevention, Home and
Business Security, etc.) to a vast range of audiences,
including children, adults/parents, service club
members, elected officials, and peers. Also, I created,
published, and publicly distributed letters, brochures,
booklets, and advertising material pertaining to Crime
Prevention and the program offerings. Even got my
own poster!
