RICHARD ALLEN SCOTT
THROUGH THE YEARS
One of the Matsqui Police members, with whom we worked
closely and were all good friends, was the pipe major for the
Abbotsford Legion pipe band. I joined as a drummer and
proudly wore the Fraser tartan. This kind of drumming is
significantly different than what I was used to, so the learning
curve was steep, and practice intense…and I still couldn’t drink
in the Legion!
This year Dad was kind enough to lend me his car…my first
wheels. So off I went to Regina, slapped BC plates on it and
drove it back. Having ‘souped’ it up a bit by having bucket seats
installed in the front, which turned to the side when you wanted
to get out (we had good relations with a wrecker/tow truck
operator we used), Dad needed the car back, so out they came
for a visit and drove it back to Regina.

To the rescue came one of my co-workers who sold me his
1967 Ford Cortina. Again, being underage, my Sergeant
had to co-sign for my bank loan.
