THROUGH THE YEARS
1972
After surviving an incredible amount of
snow during the winter, Doug and I took
a trip to England in May/June, 1972,
stayed with Nan and Grandpa, borrowed
Uncle Brian’s car, and drove to Estartit,
Spain, on the Costa Brava, for about a
week. Had a hoot. Started out camping,
got soaked, met a couple of English longhairs
and ended up renting a ‘villa’ with
them for the remainder of the holiday.
Beaches were patrolled at night by
armed police. Not that we had time to go
there. Had beer to drink, instead.
With Miggles and Mack
Estartit, Spain - 1972
We travelled to Calais, France from Dover, England, on a large carcarrying
hovercraft, Took about 45 vehicles and was like travelling
by plane in turbulence. Couldn’t see anything as the spray whipped
up was so great that the windows were perpetually covered with
water. The service
no longer exists.
We returned on a
regular, gutchurning
ferry
across the rough
English Channel
