THROUGH THE YEARS
1975
In late Spring, Prince Charles visited Ottawa on a
Canadian tour. I had to provide security in red
serge, and Sharon was lucky enough to have a few
words with him as
he passed her by
on the sidewalk on
Parliament Hill.
She was very
pregnant, and in the
front row, so the
Prince came over
and said a few
words to her.

With Sharon at just 22 years of age (and me 27),
Timothy Robert was born on May 30 th , at the Riverside
Hospital in Ottawa.

And this was the year that I got my wish – a transfer
back to British Columbia. I was scheduled to report for
duty July 2 nd at Langley Detachment.
Couldn’t have come at a worse time.

Shortly after birth, Tim was plagued by projectile vomiting after every feeding. He was
diagnosed with Pyloric Stenosis and operated on. Pyloric Stenosis is essentially an
overdeveloped gastrointestinal tract that causes muscle overlapping. Pyloric Stenosis causes
extreme vomiting in infants, which leads to dehydration and sickness. Males are more likely to
get it than females. And I had it as an infant…so obviously genetic and inherited, and Robyne
subsequently had it also.
