Fuel Facilities
As the only fuel provider on the airfield,
the City of Mesquite owns the fuel farm
and the fuel trucks. The fuel farm
consists of two 12,000-gallon above
ground storage tanks. The storage
tanks, one for Avgas and the other for
Jet A fuel, are located just west of the
north apron. The farm is served by a
service road extending from Airport
Boulevard. Fuel is delivered to aircraft
via a 1,000-gallon Avgas truck and a
2,400-gallon Jet A fuel truck. The
airport recently installed a self-serve
Avgas facility located on the north
apron, near the west fence line,
adjacent to the fuel farm.
Aircraft Rescue and
Firefighting (ARFF)
There are no ARFF facilities
permanently based at Mesquite Metro
Airport. The City of Mesquite provides
ARFF services to the airport on an “oncall”
basis. Fire Station No. 7 is located
approximately two miles from the
airport on Clay-Mathis Road.
The airport has provided advanced
training to firefighters at Fire Station
No. 7 on working with aircraft fires.
The station also maintains specialized
foaming agents designed for use with
aircraft fires.
Security Fencing
In 2003, perimeter security fencing was
installed with three electronic gate
access points. Approved individuals are
provided a card with an identifying
1-12
magnetic strip calibrated by the airport
staff which allows access through the
gates. There are also key pads on the
gates where an access code can be
entered. The three gate access points to
the airfield are identified on Exhibit
1C.
Utilities
The availability and capacity of the
utilities serving the airport are factors
in determining the development
potential of the airport property, as well
as the land immediately adjacent to the
facility.
The airport is supplied water (looped
water main) and sanitary sewer
services via the City of Mesquite’s
system. Electrical service is provided to
the airport by Reliant Energy. SBC
provides communications and data
lines. Natural gas is not currently
supplied to the airport.
AIRSPACE INFORMATION
This section of the plan identifies
factors influencing air navigation
around and at Mesquite Metro Airport.
Consideration of these additional
elements, such as area navigational
aids, area airspace classification, and
approved instrument approach
procedures, have a direct impact on
aircraft using Mesquite Metro Airport.
Navigational Aids
Navigational aids are electronic devices
that transmit radio frequencies which
pilots of properly equipped aircraft can
