At non-towered airports, determining a
reasonable operational count by aircraft
type can be difficult. Fortunately, a
subscription database called AirportIQ,
collects the number of instrument
operations by aircraft type. This figure
represents the absolute minimum
possible number of operations. As
discussed previously, a multiplier of 50
percent (1.5) is applied to the total jet
operation counts in an effort to arrive at
a realistic picture of the current activity
level at Mesquite Metro Airport.
The combination of private itinerant jet
(378), charter jet (16) and fractional jet
operations (94) indicates that, at a
minimum, there were 488 itinerant jet
operations at Mesquite Metro Airport
over a one-year period, as presented in
Table 3D. Of those, 352 were by
aircraft in ARC B-II and larger, and of
those, 194 were C-I or larger. When
adjusted with the 1.5 multiplier, the
total number of itinerant jet operations
over the one-year analysis period is 732.
Of those, 291 were C-I or larger.
Because the C-I and B-II operations
exceed the 250 annual operations
threshold as established by TxDOT, the
current critical aircraft is ARC C-II.
