EMPLOYMENT
Historical and forecast employment
data for the region is also presented in
Table 2A. The State of Texas is
projected to show an annual
employment growth rate of 1.64 percent
from 2000 to 2025. Although this
growth is slightly slower than the 2.85
percent from 1990 to 2000, it is still
quite brisk.
Dallas and Kaufman Counties are
projected to experience very strong
employment growth through 2025, at
2.92 percent and 3.01 percent
respectively. The City of Mesquite is
projected to show continued positive
employment growth at 0.8 percent
annually through the planning period.
The projected employment growth in
and around Mesquite bodes well for the
economic well being of the area.
