Dental Hygiene<br />
The Dental Hygiene program at TSTC prepares students for the<br />
industry of preventative dentistry with a well-rounded curriculum<br />
that includes preventative dental hygiene, pharmacology,<br />
periodontology, pathology, dental nutrition <strong>and</strong> more. Dental<br />
Hygiene students at TSTC are able to fulfill their clinical experiences<br />
at a beautiful, state-of-the-art dental clinic on campus. The students<br />
utilize the 14-chair clinic to receive over 600 hours of instruction<br />
in a 1-faculty-to-5-student ratio. External clinical experiences also<br />
allow a wide variety of patient treatment. Graduates of the program<br />
are well prepared to successfully complete the National Dental<br />
Hygiene Board <strong>and</strong> the Western Regional Board Examination, as well<br />
as the Texas Jurisprudence Examination for licensure.<br />
Dental Hygiene is available at the Harlingen campus.<br />
First-Year Seminar Requirement<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s are required to enroll in the First-Year Seminar course,<br />
TSTC 1101, in their first semester attending TSTC unless they<br />
have completed more than 24 credit hours. Please see detailed<br />
information regarding the course <strong>and</strong> exemptions in the Advising<br />
section under First-Year Seminar course.<br />
