EEIR 1309 National Electrical Code (2-4-3) Interpretation of the<br />

National Electrical Code for residential, commercial <strong>and</strong> industrial<br />

wiring. Emphasis on designing, constructing, <strong>and</strong> troubleshooting<br />

electrical systems. Prerequisite CETT 1305, ELPT 1341<br />

ELMT 1301 Programmable Logic Controllers (2-4-3) An<br />

introduction to programmable logic controllers as used in industrial<br />

environments including basic concepts, programming, applications,<br />

troubleshooting of ladder logic, <strong>and</strong> interfacing of equipment.<br />

Prerequisite CETT 1325<br />

ELMT 1305 Basic Fluid Power (2-4-3) Basic fluid power course<br />

covering pneumatic <strong>and</strong> hydraulic systems, fluid power symbols,<br />

operating theory, components, <strong>and</strong> basic electrical <strong>and</strong> manual<br />

controls.<br />

ELMT 1373 Pumps <strong>and</strong> Compressors Control (2-4-3) This course<br />

explores study of the theory <strong>and</strong> operations of various types of<br />

pumps <strong>and</strong> compressors. Topics include mechanical circuit, electrical<br />

circuit with emphasis in 3 phase control, mechanical safety devices,<br />

flow control devices <strong>and</strong> pressure control devices.<br />

ELMT 1491 Special Topics in Electromechanical Technology/<br />

Technician (2-4-4) This course is designed to familiarize the student<br />

with concepts in electro-mechanical technology specific to wind<br />

turbines.<br />

ELMT <strong>22</strong>39 Advanced Programmable Logic Controllers (1-4-2)<br />

Advanced applications of programmable logic controllers as used<br />

in industrial environments including concepts of programming,<br />

industrial applications, troubleshooting ladder logic, <strong>and</strong> interfacing<br />

to equipment. Prerequisite ELMT 1301<br />

ELMT 2333 Industrial Electronics (2-4-3) Devices, circuits, <strong>and</strong><br />

systems primarily used in automated manufacturing <strong>and</strong>/or process<br />

control including computer controls <strong>and</strong> interfacing between<br />

mechanical, electrical, electronic, <strong>and</strong> computer equipment. Includes<br />

presentation of programming schemes.<br />

ELMT 2335 Certified Electronics Technician Training (2-4-3) Review<br />

of electronics concepts <strong>and</strong> principles in preparation for sitting for a<br />

certification examination administered by an outside organization or<br />

agency. Prerequisite CETT 1325<br />

ELMT 2339 Advanced Programmable Logic Controllers (2-4-3)<br />

Advanced applications of programmable logic controllers as used<br />

in industrial environments including concepts of programming,<br />

industrial applications, troubleshooting ladder logic, <strong>and</strong> interfacing<br />

to equipment. Prerequisite ELMT 1301 or ELPT 2319<br />

ELMT 2341 Electromechanical Systems (2-4-3) Application of<br />

electromechanical systems. Emphasizes programmable control<br />

devices <strong>and</strong> solid state systems.<br />

ELMT 2371 Industrial Control Power Devic (2-4-3) This course<br />

explores theoretical concepts in power devices control. Emphasis<br />

in 3 phase control, system design, protection control devices,<br />

wiring <strong>and</strong> troubleshooting. In-depth coverage of power devices<br />

applications. Prerequisite CETT 1305<br />

ELMT 2480 Cooperative Education - Electromechanical Technology/<br />

Electromechanical Engineering Technology (1-0-4) Career-related<br />

activities encountered in the student's area of specialization offered<br />

through an individualized agreement among the college, employer,<br />

<strong>and</strong> student. Under the supervision of the college <strong>and</strong> the employer,<br />

the student combines classroom learning with work experience.<br />

Includes a lecture component.<br />

ELPT 1311 Basic Electrical Theory (2-4-3) Basic theory <strong>and</strong> practice<br />

of electrical circuits. Includes calculations as applied to alternating<br />

<strong>and</strong> direct current.<br />

ELPT 1321 Introduction to Electrical Safety <strong>and</strong> Tools (2-2-3) Safety<br />

rules <strong>and</strong> regulations. Includes the selection, inspection, use, <strong>and</strong><br />

maintenance of common tools for electricians.<br />

ELPT 1325 National Electrical Code I (2-2-3) An introductory study<br />

of the National Electric Code (NEC) for those employed in fields<br />

requiring knowledge of the Code. Emphasis on wiring design,<br />

protection, methods, <strong>and</strong> materials; equipment for general use; <strong>and</strong><br />

basic calculations.<br />

ELPT 1329 Residential Wiring (2-4-3) Wiring methods for single<br />

family <strong>and</strong> multi-family dwellings. Includes load calculations, service<br />

entrance sizing, proper grounding techniques, <strong>and</strong> associated safety<br />

procedures.<br />

ELPT 1341 Motor Control (2-4-3) Operating principles of solid-state<br />

<strong>and</strong> conventional controls along with their practical applications.<br />

Includes braking, jogging, plugging, safety interlocks, wiring, <strong>and</strong><br />

schematic diagram interpretations. Prerequisite AACT 1371 or ELPT<br />

1311 or CETT 1303 or IEIR 1371 OSA may be exempt from requisite.<br />

ELPT 1345 Commercial Wiring (2-4-3) Commercial wiring methods.<br />

Includes overcurrent protection, raceway panel board installation,<br />

proper grounding techniques, <strong>and</strong> associated safety procedures.<br />

ELPT 1351 Electrical Machines (2-4-3) Direct current (DC)<br />

motors, single-phase <strong>and</strong> polyphase alternating current (AC)<br />

motors, generators, <strong>and</strong> alternators. Emphasis on construction,<br />

characteristics, efficiencies, starting, <strong>and</strong> speed control. Prerequisite<br />

ELPT 1341<br />

ELPT 1357 Industrial Wiring (2-4-3) Wiring methods used for<br />

industrial installations. Includes motor circuits, raceway <strong>and</strong> bus way<br />

installations, proper grounding techniques, <strong>and</strong> associated safety<br />

procedures. Prerequisite ELPT 1329 or ELPT 1345<br />

ELPT 1380 Cooperative Education - Electrical <strong>and</strong> Power<br />

Transmission Installation/Installer, General (1-0-3) Career-related<br />

activities encountered in the student's area of specialization offered<br />
