Web Design & Development<br />

Designers <strong>and</strong> developers work within a variety of settings to gather<br />

information <strong>and</strong> program content <strong>and</strong> design a site that’s effective<br />

<strong>and</strong> easy to use. The Web Design & Development degree offers<br />

targeted coursework in website design, production, programming,<br />

applications <strong>and</strong> maintenance, as well as the practical h<strong>and</strong>s-on<br />

experience needed to underst<strong>and</strong> the technology. The program<br />

includes curriculum specific to graphic <strong>and</strong> web design, web<br />

development, computer science <strong>and</strong> computer networking. The<br />

curriculum also covers languages <strong>and</strong> software including HTML,<br />

JavaScript, PHP, CSS <strong>and</strong> MySQL. <strong>Student</strong>s not only learn instruction<br />

in web page design <strong>and</strong> composition, but also develop a portfolio<br />

<strong>and</strong> participate in a real-world project that moves them to the top of<br />

the class when employers seek c<strong>and</strong>idates.<br />

Web Design & Development is a Performance-Based Education (PBE)<br />

program.<br />

Web Design & Development is 100% online. <strong>Student</strong>s will be<br />

required to take the <strong>Student</strong> Online Learning Orientation course<br />

(SOLO 100).<br />

First-Year Seminar Requirement<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s are required to enroll in the First-Year Seminar course,<br />

TSTC 1102, in their first semester attending TSTC unless they<br />

have completed more than 24 credit hours. Please see detailed<br />

information regarding the course <strong>and</strong> exemptions in the Advising<br />
