Pets on Campus<br />

Out of consideration for all members of the TSTC College<br />

community <strong>and</strong> for reasons of health <strong>and</strong> cleanliness,<br />

pets are not allowed in College buildings (e.g., office,<br />

residential, recreational, <strong>and</strong> academic buildings). TSTC<br />

permits approved emotional support animals in residence<br />

facilities. For more information contact Access & Learning<br />

Accommodations (ALA) or the Housing Office.<br />

Bicycle, Skateboard, Hoverboard (<strong>and</strong> other selfbalancing<br />

boards/scooters) <strong>and</strong> Rollerblade Use<br />

Guidelines<br />

Riding bicycles, Rollerblades, hoverboards, Swagways,<br />

Segways, IO Hawks, Skywalkers or other similar selfbalancing<br />

boards/scooters, or skateboards will be allowed<br />

as long as all safety precautions are taken. They may not<br />

be utilized in buildings or left in hallways, staircases,<br />

classrooms, lounges or where otherwise prohibited by a<br />

campus rule, regulation or signage. Use of any of these<br />

items in a manner that damages property or endangers or<br />

inconveniences vehicles or pedestrians is prohibited.<br />

Concealed H<strong>and</strong>guns<br />

The unauthorized possession of any weapon in<br />

accordance with Title 10, Chapter 46.05 of the Texas<br />

Penal Code is prohibited on the physical premises of<br />

Texas State Technical College (TSTC) with the exception<br />

of a concealed h<strong>and</strong>gun that a person is licensed to carry<br />

under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code in<br />

any area not properly designated as prohibited. TSTC is<br />

in compliance with SB11 of the 84th Texas Legislative<br />

session under the policies established by TSTC regarding<br />

the carrying of concealed h<strong>and</strong>guns with a permit.<br />

Title IX<br />

Prohibiting Sexual Misconduct <strong>and</strong> Genderbased<br />

Discrimination<br />

To ensure <strong>and</strong> maintain a workplace <strong>and</strong> an educational<br />

environment free of, <strong>and</strong> protected from, sexual<br />

misconduct <strong>and</strong> discrimination based on gender. Texas<br />

State Technical College (TSTC) does not tolerate <strong>and</strong><br />

expressly prohibits sexual misconduct which includes<br />

but is not limited to: sexual harassment, sexual assault,<br />

<strong>and</strong>/or sexual exploitation, stalking, dating <strong>and</strong> domestic<br />

violence. No person on the basis of sex, will be excluded<br />

from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be<br />

subjected to discrimination under any education program<br />

or activity.<br />

This practice applies to all members of the TSTC<br />

organization including all employees, students, <strong>and</strong><br />

visitors. This practice <strong>and</strong> procedure includes incidents<br />

occurring on <strong>and</strong> off campus that would cause a<br />

substantial disruption in the learning environment. The<br />

procedures also include complaints filed by visitors on<br />

TSTC property. Respondents are subject to disciplinary<br />

action including possible suspension/expulsion from the<br />

College or termination of employment.<br />

Pertinent Information<br />

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects<br />

people from discrimination based on sex in education<br />

programs or activities which receive federal financial<br />

assistance. Title IX states, “No person in the United States<br />

shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation<br />

in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to<br />

discrimination under any education program or activity<br />

receiving Federal financial assistance.”<br />
