Wind Energy Technology<br />

As a wind energy technician, your options are sky-high. You can<br />

work at turbine construction <strong>and</strong> manufacturing sites, in the<br />

distribution <strong>and</strong> generation industries, at utility companies, or<br />

on wind farms anywhere in the country. At TSTC you'll learn to<br />

conduct efficiency studies <strong>and</strong> manage personnel, materials <strong>and</strong><br />

machines in factories, offices <strong>and</strong> production sites. You'll also<br />

prepare machinery <strong>and</strong> equipment layouts, plan workflow for<br />

turbine construction <strong>and</strong> maintenance, conduct statistical studies of<br />

product quality <strong>and</strong> time usage, <strong>and</strong> analyze production costs. Upon<br />

successful completion of our program, you’ll be qualified to operate<br />

<strong>and</strong> maintain the systems that make a wind turbine function.<br />

Wind Energy Technology is offered at the Harlingen <strong>and</strong><br />

Sweetwater campuses.<br />

First-Year Seminar Requirement<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s are required to enroll in the First-Year Seminar course,<br />

TSTC 1101, in their first semester attending TSTC unless they<br />

have completed more than 24 credit hours. Please see detailed<br />

information regarding the course <strong>and</strong> exemptions in the Advising<br />
