AIRP 2331 Advanced Meteorology (3-0-3) Preparation for advanced<br />

aviation students to apply knowledge of varying meteorological<br />

factors including weather hazards to flight, techniques for<br />

minimizing weather hazards, <strong>and</strong> aviation weather services.<br />

AIRP 2337 Commercial Ground School (3-0-3) A study of advanced<br />

aviation topics used for Federal Aviation Administration certification<br />

at the commercial pilot level. Includes preparation for the Federal<br />

Aviation Administration Commercial Airplane Practical test.<br />

AIRP 2349 Instructor Ground School (2-2-3) Skill development in<br />

the fundamentals of teaching <strong>and</strong> learning in an aviation- oriented<br />

environment. Introduction to the techniques of instruction <strong>and</strong><br />

analysis of flight maneuvers. Topics include flight instructor<br />

responsibilities <strong>and</strong> Federal Aviation Regulations relating to the<br />

instructor rating.<br />

responsibilities, duties, <strong>and</strong> legal relationships. Prerequisite ARCE<br />

ARCE 1352 Structural Drafting (2-4-3) A study of structural systems<br />

including concrete foundations <strong>and</strong> frames, wood framing <strong>and</strong><br />

concrete, wood, <strong>and</strong> steel to meet industry st<strong>and</strong>ards including the<br />

ARTC 1305 Basic Graphic Design (2-4-3) Graphic design with<br />

emphasis on the visual communication process. Topics include basic<br />

terminology <strong>and</strong> graphic design principles.<br />

ARTC 1310 Design Concepts (2-4-3) Fundamental techniques in<br />

conceptualizing. Includes all procedures from initial research to<br />

creating strategies to finalize a solution. Prerequisite GRPH 1359,<br />

ARTC 1313 Digital Publishing I (2-4-3) The fundamentals of using<br />

digital layout as a primary publishing tool <strong>and</strong> the basic concepts<br />

<strong>and</strong> terminology associated with typography <strong>and</strong> page layout.<br />

ARTC 1317 Design Communication I (2-4-3) Study of design<br />

development relating to graphic design terminology, tools <strong>and</strong><br />

media, <strong>and</strong> layout <strong>and</strong> design concepts. Topics include integration of<br />

type, images <strong>and</strong> other design elements, <strong>and</strong> developing computer<br />

skills in industry st<strong>and</strong>ard computer programs.<br />

ARTC 1327 Typography (2-4-3) A study of letterforms <strong>and</strong><br />

typographic concepts as elements of graphic communication.<br />

Emphasis on developing a current, practical typographic knowledge<br />

based on industry st<strong>and</strong>ards.<br />

ARTC 1349 Art Direction I (2-4-3) Creation of projects in art<br />

direction for advertising graphic campaigns for products, services, or<br />

ideas. Topics include all campaign procedures from initial research<br />

<strong>and</strong> creative strategy to final execution <strong>and</strong> presentation of a<br />

comprehensive project. Prerequisite ARTC 2317, GRPH 1359<br />

ARTC 1359 Visual Design for New Media (2-4-3) Visual design<br />

elements as they relate to new media. Emphasizes aesthetics<br />

<strong>and</strong> visual problem solving such as typographic issues, color<br />

management, hierarchy of information, image optimization, <strong>and</strong><br />

effective layout. Prerequisite ARTC 1349, ARTC 2313<br />

ARTC 2305 Digital Imaging II (2-4-3) Principles of digital image<br />

processing <strong>and</strong> digital painting. Emphasis on raster-based imaging<br />

<strong>and</strong> the creative aspects of electronic illustration for commercial or<br />

fine art applications. Prerequisite ARTC 1302<br />

ARTC 2313 Digital Publishing II (2-4-3) Includes layout procedures<br />

from thumbnails <strong>and</strong> roughs to final comprehensive <strong>and</strong> print<br />

output. Emphasis on design principles for the creation of advertising<br />

<strong>and</strong> publishing materials, <strong>and</strong> techniques for efficient planning <strong>and</strong><br />

documenting projects. Prerequisite ARTC 1305, ARTC 1313<br />

ARTC 2317 Typographic Design (2-4-3) Exploration of typographic<br />

design including computer generated letterforms as elements of<br />

design. Includes theory <strong>and</strong> techniques of traditional, contemporary,<br />

<strong>and</strong> experimental typography. Prerequisite ARTC 1302, ARTC 1305<br />

ARTC 2333 Publication Design (2-4-3) Development of skills <strong>and</strong><br />

advanced knowledge of publishing software, with emphasis on<br />

the maintenance of visual continuity in documents for publication.<br />

ARTC 2335 Portfolio Development for Graphic Design (2-4-3)<br />

Preparation of a portfolio comprised of completed graphic design<br />

projects. Evaluation <strong>and</strong> demonstration of portfolio presentation<br />
