SOLR 2376 Special Projects in Solar Energy Systems (2-4-3)<br />
This course will provide the student with opportunities for solar<br />
installations <strong>and</strong> h<strong>and</strong>s-on experience. Photovoltaic Systems as well<br />
as Solar Thermal Systems will be addressed. Individual students<br />
will be given the responsibility of supervising the planning <strong>and</strong><br />
installation of their own systems.<br />
SOLR 2377 Codes for Alternative Energy, Efficiency & Conservation<br />
(2-4-3) Apply various building <strong>and</strong> energy codes to solar <strong>and</strong> other<br />
alternate energy system installations. Emphasis will be on safety<br />
features of the codes <strong>and</strong> how the installation methods affect<br />
installers, occupants as well as any emergency responders that<br />
may have contact with the system <strong>and</strong> the structure on which it is<br />
installed. Energy efficiency, energy conservation, <strong>and</strong> the concept of<br />
a whole structure approach will be covered.<br />

to surgical technology theory, surgical pharmacology <strong>and</strong><br />
anesthesia, <strong>and</strong> patient care concepts.<br />
SRGT 1409 Fundamentals of Perioperative Concepts <strong>and</strong><br />
Techniques (3-2-4) In-depth coverage of aseptic technique<br />
principles <strong>and</strong> practices, infectious processes, wound healing <strong>and</strong><br />
creation <strong>and</strong> maintenance of the sterile field.<br />
SRGT 1441 Surgical Procedures I (3-3-4) Introduction to surgical<br />
pathology <strong>and</strong> its relationship to surgical procedures. Emphasis on<br />
surgical procedures related to the general, OB/GYN genitourinary,<br />
<strong>and</strong> orthopedic surgical specialties incorporating instruments,<br />
equipment, <strong>and</strong> supplies required for safe patient care.<br />
SRGT 1442 Surgical Procedures II (3-3-4) Introduction to surgical<br />
pathology <strong>and</strong> its relationship to surgical procedures. Emphasis<br />
on surgical procedures related to the thoracic, peripheral vascular,<br />
plastic/reconstructive , EENT, cardiac, <strong>and</strong> neurological surgical<br />
specialties incorporating instruments, equipment, <strong>and</strong> supplies<br />
required for safe patient care.<br />
SRGT 1461 Clinical - Surgical Technology/Technologist (0-0-4)<br />
A health-related work-based learning experience that enables<br />
the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, <strong>and</strong><br />
concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional.<br />

SRGT 1491 Special Topics in Surgical/Operating Room TECHNICIAN<br />
(3-4-4) Topics address recently identified current events, skills,<br />
knowledges, <strong>and</strong>/or attitudes <strong>and</strong> behaviors pertinent to the<br />
technology or occupation <strong>and</strong> relevant to the professional<br />
development of the student. This course was designed to be<br />
repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency.<br />

A health-related work-based learning experience that enables<br />
the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, <strong>and</strong><br />
concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional.<br />

SRVY 1341 L<strong>and</strong> Surveying (2-4-3) A study of the measurement<br />
<strong>and</strong> determination of boundaries, areas, shapes, location through<br />
traversing techniques. Instruction in a variety of adjustment<br />
methods using calculators <strong>and</strong> computers. Addresses methods<br />
of traversing <strong>and</strong> adjustment of errors according to prevailing<br />
professional st<strong>and</strong>ards. Prerequisite DFTG 1309 (Prerequisite or<br />

TECM 1303 Technical Calculations (3-0-3) Specific mathematical<br />
calculations required by business, industry, <strong>and</strong> health occupations.<br />
TECM 1349 Technical Math Applications (3-0-3) Trigonometry<br />
<strong>and</strong> geometry as used in a variety of technical settings. Includes<br />
the use of plane <strong>and</strong> solid geometry to solve areas <strong>and</strong> volumes<br />
encountered in industry.<br />

VNSG 1119 Leadership <strong>and</strong> Professional Development (1-0-1)<br />
Study of the importance of professional growth. Topics include the<br />
role of the licensed vocational nurse in the multi-disciplinary health<br />
care team, professional organizations, <strong>and</strong> continuing education.<br />
VNSG 1230 Maternal-Neonatal Nursing (2-0-2) A study of the<br />
biological, psychological, <strong>and</strong> sociological concepts applicable<br />
to basic needs of the family including childbearing <strong>and</strong> neonatal<br />
care. Utilization of the nursing process in the assessment <strong>and</strong><br />
management of the childbearing family. Topics include physiological<br />
changes related to pregnancy, fetal development, <strong>and</strong> nursing care<br />
of the family during labor <strong>and</strong> delivery <strong>and</strong> the puerperium.<br />
VNSG 1261 Clinical - Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse Training<br />
(0-0-2) A health-related work-based learning experience that<br />
enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory,<br />
skills, <strong>and</strong> concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical<br />

VNSG 1304 Foundations of Nursing (3-0-3) Introduction to the<br />
nursing profession including history, st<strong>and</strong>ards of practice, legal<br />
<strong>and</strong> ethical issues, <strong>and</strong> role of the vocational nurse. Topics include<br />
mental health, therapeutic communication, cultural <strong>and</strong> spiritual<br />
diversity, nursing process, <strong>and</strong> holistic awareness.<br />
VNSG 1327 Essentials of Medication Administration (3-0-3) General<br />
principles of medication administration including determination<br />
of dosage, preparation, safe administration, <strong>and</strong> documentation of<br />
multiple forms of drugs. Instruction includes various systems of<br />
