Appeal Denied<br />

The student will not be eligible to receive financial aid<br />

until he or she meets the Satisfactory Academic Progress<br />

(SAP) st<strong>and</strong>ards as listed above; both a cumulative 2.0<br />

GPA <strong>and</strong> a cumulative completion rate of 67%. It may<br />

take several semesters in order for a student to regain aid<br />

eligibility.<br />

Repayment of Federal<br />

Funds: Return of Title IV<br />

If a student receives federal financial aid <strong>and</strong> stops<br />

attending or withdraws from all courses at or before<br />

60 percent of the term is completed, the student will<br />

be required to repay all or a portion of the federal aid<br />

received, including aid used to pay for college expenses.<br />

If the student received a grade of F in all courses for any<br />

term, the student will be required to repay a portion of the<br />

federal aid received, based on last date of participation,<br />

unless an instructor certifies <strong>and</strong> documents that the<br />

student was participating in at least one class after the 60<br />

percent point of the term or until the end of the term. A<br />

term may consist of one or more blocks or modules.<br />

Veteran Services<br />

Veteran Services will serve as a centralized point of<br />

contact to assist prospective <strong>and</strong> current veterans,<br />

veteran dependents <strong>and</strong> active duty military students<br />

with navigating college resources to ensure a successful<br />

college experience. The Veteran Services staff may serve<br />

as advocates for student veterans <strong>and</strong> act as liaisons<br />

between the student <strong>and</strong> other college offices, community<br />

resources <strong>and</strong> the Veteran Affairs Department.<br />

The following services are provided by Veteran Services:<br />

• Application support–FAFSA, Admissions, Hazlewood <strong>and</strong><br />

GI Bill ® .<br />

• TSTC Portal <strong>and</strong> WebAdvisor training.<br />

• College policies <strong>and</strong> procedures support.<br />

• On campus job information <strong>and</strong> referral.<br />

• Veteran benefits information <strong>and</strong> assistance.<br />

• Coordinate referrals for veterans <strong>and</strong> their dependents.<br />

• Educationally related printing <strong>and</strong> faxing support for<br />

veterans <strong>and</strong> their dependents.<br />

• Assistance with scholarship searches <strong>and</strong> application<br />

process.<br />

• Referral to campus Advocacy <strong>and</strong> Resource Center.<br />

• Tutoring support <strong>and</strong> referral.<br />

• Computer lab access <strong>and</strong> support.<br />

• Academic advisement support.<br />

• College credit evaluation support.<br />

Veteran Benefits<br />

TSTC is approved for training service members, veterans<br />

<strong>and</strong> their eligible dependents under the provisions of<br />

various laws commonly called the GI Bill ® . The student is<br />

responsible for tuition <strong>and</strong> fees not covered by GI Bill ® or<br />

the Hazlewood Tuition Exemption. A spouse or child of a<br />

veteran may receive benefits under certain conditions. The<br />

DD form 214 <strong>and</strong> all official college, university <strong>and</strong> military<br />

transcripts are required. Veterans who are eligible for<br />

assistance under any of the Department of Veterans Affairs<br />

programs should contact Veteran Services.<br />

Service members, Veterans <strong>and</strong> dependents are<br />

encouraged to review all benefits at benefits.va.gov/gibill<br />

before applying for educational benefits. Texas Veterans<br />

<strong>and</strong> their dependents may be eligible for benefits under<br />

the Texas Hazlewood Act. The Texas Hazlewood Act<br />

encompasses many different tuition exemptions <strong>and</strong>/<br />

or waivers for eligible Veterans <strong>and</strong> their dependents.<br />

Please visit www.tvc.texas.gov to view all eligibility<br />

requirements. Texas Veterans interested in using the<br />

Hazlewood Tuition Exemption must submit the proper<br />

application <strong>and</strong> all supporting documentations to the<br />

Veterans Services Office.<br />

NOTE: All active-duty, reservist or National Guard Service<br />

members are encouraged to speak with their educational<br />

service officer (ESO) or counselor within their military<br />

service prior to enrolling at TSTC.<br />

No Show Status<br />

Veterans/Dependents reported as a No Show will have<br />

their enrollment certification interrupted <strong>and</strong> may impact<br />

the student's VA education benefits. Overpayment due<br />

to a No Show Status is the Veteran’s responsibility,<br />

<strong>and</strong> money may be owed to TSTC <strong>and</strong>/or VA Education<br />

Department.<br />

Enrollment Certification<br />

Only classes that earn credit toward the Veteran’s VA<br />

approved signed degree plan will be certified to VA.<br />

Veterans will not be certified for repeat courses that are<br />

considered completed. It is the Veteran’s responsibility to<br />

meet with their enrollment coach or program enrollment<br />

coach <strong>and</strong> register for the required classes. You may<br />

request a printout of your program evaluation from your<br />

program advisor, Veteran Services or print the Program<br />

Evaluation that is available in the TSTC Portal.<br />
