Additional courses may be accepted on transfer from<br />
other colleges.<br />
Questions on the transferability of outside courses to<br />
meet the Humanities/Fine Arts elective, the Natural<br />
Sciences/Mathematics or Behavioral/Social Science<br />
elective requirements should be addressed to the lead<br />
instructor of the Academic Core Certificate of Completion.<br />
Academic Core Courses<br />
The following is a list of General Education courses offered<br />
by TSTC General Education Academic Core departments<br />
used to satisfy the 42 hour semester hour Academic Core<br />
Certificate of Completion <strong>and</strong> the general education core<br />
courses for AS degrees.<br />
The TSTC campus in Harlingen offers the Texas Core<br />
Curriculum, a core package of transferable academic<br />
courses defined by the Texas Higher Education<br />
Coordinating Board that will transfer to any college or<br />
university in the state of Texas. More information on<br />
course content <strong>and</strong> lecture <strong>and</strong> lab hours is included in<br />
the Course Descriptions section of this catalog.<br />
Selection of courses within each category must be based<br />
upon the student’s demonstrated abilities, desired major<br />
<strong>and</strong> intentions for graduation. Not all courses are offered<br />
every semester. <strong>Student</strong>s must attain a "C" or better in<br />
all academic Core courses to be eligible for certificate of<br />
completion. Additional hours may be taken beyond the<br />
minimum shown. The categories <strong>and</strong> minimum hours for<br />
