Model results for the total deposition of oxidized nitrogen emanating in different European countries are shown in Table 5. It can be calculated that the HELCOM countries are responsible for about 60 % of the deposition. The best estimates of the total deposition of nitrogen was found by combining monitoring results and model calculations. The results are shown in Table 6. The general conclusion of this assessment was that A reasonable estimate for the total deposition of nitrogen to the Baltic Sea in the latter half of the 1980’s thus seems to be 300 f 30 kiloTonnes N/yr This amounts to at least 30 % of the total nitrogen burden of the Baltic Sea. 50
