l’œuvre dont il est ici question, et dont le tableau
bolonais semble le plus proche, la lumière est celle
du début de l’après-midi, éblouissante, somptueuse,
rayonnante ; le rose tendre de l’aquarelle colore le
mur de la maison et la luminescence, qui fait ressortir
la rue vers laquelle se tourne le personnage de
la scène ainsi que la colonne du porche, éblouit la
petite figure qui assiste à la scène depuis la fenêtre
du second étage, alors qu’elle devient, dans le dessin
qui porte le nom de son auteur, plus dense, plus
brumeuse et voilée.
Cette œuvre traitée avec un soin particulier par Gaetano
traite un sujet particulier, dont il est difficile de
penser qu’il puisse s’agir d’une commande. Ceci
ouvre une discussion <strong>sur</strong> l’attribution du tableau ;
ici n’est pas l’endroit d’en débattre. Nous pouvons
simplement souligner la qualité, non seulement de
l’invention, mais aussi du traitement, notamment
l’excellence du trait, la franchise de l’élaboration et
de la superbe qualité de l’aquarelle.

more veiled in the sheet bearing the name of its
author.
The refined treatment of the composition as well as
the peculiarity of the subject would seem to exclude
that it was the result of a commission. This opens a
discussion about the attribution of the painting. This
is not the place for such a debate, but we can simply
underline the quality, not just of the invention, but
of the treatment too, particularly of the excellent,
the boldness of execution and the superb quyality
of the watercolour.
