If one is to believe the testimony of Giorgio Vasari
who was related to Luca Signorelli through his
uncle, the young artist served his apprenticeship
Francesca’s entourage are now credited to Signorelli.
Signorelli worked mainly in Arezzo at this point,
but also in Città di Castello and possibly in Perugia.
In 1479, he was made a member of the Council
of Eighteen of his native Cortona and held many
