Type 1 Acorn-shaped (Fig 106; 2516-2517),<br />

2516 SF BKC 1647(C), E928 F258. Pipe trench. Period 3a. <strong>The</strong> outer part of<br />

the base of a ?gilt seal-box. Possibly from a box similar to Fig 106.<br />

2517. Length 26.5 mm. maximum width 16.0 mm.<br />

Type 2 Round (Fig 106; 2518-2521),<br />

2518 SF LWC 1770(C), H39. Site clearance. Unstratified. Most of the base<br />

and lid of a round seal-box. <strong>The</strong>re are three circular perforations in<br />

the floor and a straight-sided notch in the surviving fragment of wall.<br />

<strong>The</strong> lid is too damaged by corrosion to distinguish any decoration.<br />

Diameter 18.0 mm. height approximately 8.0 mm.<br />

2519 SF LWC 3728. K434. ?Garden topsoil. Period 4b? Fragment of the base of<br />

a round seal-box.<br />

2520 SF BKC 467(C), AS L1. Town ditch (F30) fill. Anglo-Saxon. <strong>The</strong> base of<br />

a round seal-box with four circular perforations in the floor and two<br />

opposing straight-sided notches in the wall. <strong>The</strong>re are traces of iron<br />

corrosion. probably from a rivet. on the two lugs that formed the hinge<br />

for the lid. Diameter 19.0 mm. height 5.5 mm. <strong>The</strong>re is a slight<br />

footring at the junction of floor and wall.
