Tumbler lock lift keys (Fig 139;4145-4149)<br />

4146 SF LWC 2616(C), J467. Demolished building. contaminated. Period 4b<br />

destruction. Iron. Bent. L-shaped lift key with ?two wards, both<br />

broken off. <strong>The</strong> short arm is rectangular in section, 3.0 by 7.0 mm. the<br />

base of the shaft ?square, 6.0 by 6.0 mm (but it may be round), and the<br />

head of the shaft, the grip, rectangular, 5.0 by 14.0 mm, and pierced for<br />

suspension. Length 147.5 mm, width 33.5 mm.<br />

4147 SF BKC 6008. J176 F32. Pit. Period 5c/6. Iron. Corroded L-shaped lift<br />

key with heavy grip pierced for suspension. Length 83.0 mm, width<br />

24.0 mm.<br />

Tumbler lock slide keys (Fig 140; 4150-4154)<br />

4151 SF BKC 1579(C), E834 L252. Make-up. Period 3b. Slide key, the handle<br />

has broken off. Three parallel wards. Surviving length 31.5 mm, width<br />

18.5 mm.<br />

4152 SF BKC 6023. El180 F332. Large pit. Period 2. Iron. Corroded slide<br />

key with a single row of wards, the number of which cannot be determined.<br />

Length 78.0 mm, width 33.0 mm.<br />

Lever lock keys (Fig 141; 4155-4156)<br />

4155 SF BKC 2982(C), J36 L4. Dump. Period 5b. Key with pelta-shaped cut-out<br />

on the handle to serve for suspension. <strong>The</strong> cut-out is similar to that<br />

on 1st-century buckles. as Fig 144. 4176. <strong>The</strong> wards are broken off.<br />

Length 40.0 mm. maximum width of handle 22.5 mm.
