the remaining part. <strong>The</strong>re are two rivet holes. <strong>The</strong> piece has broken<br />

across one hole. Surviving length 41.0 mm. maximum width 18.0 mm. <strong>The</strong><br />

piece was found close to the group of bone artefacts from a craft<br />

workshop (Crummy 1981? see also 4348-4395), but it is probably not<br />

associated with them.<br />

IRON KNIFE OR CLEAVER BLADES<br />

2940 SF LWC 1057(C), C F205. Posthole. Period 1. A blade with a short part<br />

of a square section tang. <strong>The</strong> tip of the blade is missing and the<br />

object is too corroded for a section to be described. Length 151.0 mm.<br />

probable width 20.0 mm.<br />

2941 SF LWC 2957(C), J749. Make-up. Period 4a. A fragment of a ?straight-<br />

edged blade with a curved back. <strong>The</strong> tip is missing. Length 108.0 mm.<br />

maximum width approximately 31.0 mm.<br />

2943 SF LWC 3130(C), J827. Occupation. Period 3. Three fragments of a<br />

blade with straight edge and gently curving back. <strong>The</strong> tip and tang are<br />

missing. Length 119.5 mm. maximum width 28.0 mm.<br />
