Keys of uncertain type (4157-4158)<br />

4157 SF LWC 1147. 8628 F225. Pit. Period 5. Massive iron key. possibly of<br />

tumbler lock slide type. Length 194.0 mm.<br />

4158 SF CPS 752. 741 L96. Make-up. Period 4. Key? L-shaped. with<br />

rectangular-section shaft, pierced at the top for suspension, curving<br />

round into the short arm, the end of which is circular in section.<br />

Possibly a simple slide key.<br />

Key handles (Fig 1425 4159-4164)<br />

4159 SF BKC 2056. Gl. Site cleaning. Unstratified. Fleur-de-lis key handle<br />

with traces of iron. Length 55.0 mm, width 735.0 mm. Similar to Fig<br />

142, 4161 but lacking the <strong>small</strong> leaves.<br />

4160 SF BKC 2192(C), G70 F11. Timber-lined drain. Period 5c. Fleur-de-lis<br />

key handle. Length 53.5 mm, width 29.5 mm. Similar to Fig 142. 4161 but<br />

lacking the <strong>small</strong> leaves.<br />

4162 SF BKC 2864(C), H374 L12. Destruction debris of Period 5b building.<br />

Period 5b (end), Possibly a key handle. A ring with a square<br />

projection. Maximum external diameter 27.0 mm.<br />

4163 SF BKC 3357(C), J198 F45. Timber-lined pit. Period 5b. As 4162.<br />

Maximum external diameter 20.5 mm.<br />

4164 SF MID 569. A2069 L214. Destruction debris. Period 3 destruction.<br />

Handle with a corroded iron stem still affixed. Possibly a key. <strong>The</strong><br />

handle is a ring set on a rectangular base of two mouldings.<br />
