Wagner: Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg - atto primo
SCHWARZ
Per ultimo: lo volle Iddio!
(Si siede.)
KOTHNER
Il numero è giusto e pieno per la seduta.
Se v’aggrada, passiamo alla scelta del
[censore?
VOGELGESANG
Forse meglio dopo la festa.
BECKMESSER
(a Kothner)
Ha urgenza il signore?
Il mio posto e ufficio gli cedo volentieri.
POGNER
Ma no, maestri! Ora lasciate stare la cosa.
Per una importante richiesta chiedo la parola.
(Tutti i maestri si alzano e si risiedono.)
KOTHNER
Avete la parola, maestro! Parlate!
POGNER
Ora ascoltatemi, e comprendetemi bene! –
La bella festa, il giorno di San Giovanni,
sapete, celebriam domani:
su verde prato, nel boschetto fiorito,
fra giochi e danze in piacevole festino,
stretto a gioioso petto,
dimèntico dei suoi affanni,
ciascuno s’allieta, come gli aggrada.
Gli stessi maestri mutano
la severa scuola di canto del coro della chiesa;
con lieti suoni fuoriporta
incedono su aperto prato
al fremito di luminosa festa;
lasciano che il popolo ascolti
con profano orecchio il libero canto.
Per una gara e un concorso di canto
son predisposti premi di vittoria,
e si celebrano appieno
sia il dono che la melodia.
Dio m’ha reso un uomo ricco;
e se ognuno dà come può,
ho dovuto anch’io pensare
che cosa offrire in modo
che non me ne vergognassi;
SCHWARZ
Zuletzt: Gott wollt’s!
KOTHNER
Zur Sitzung gut und voll die Zahl.
Beliebt’s, wir schreiten zur Merkerwahl?
VOGELGESANG
Wohl eh’r nach dem Fest.
BECKMESSER
Pressirt’s den Herrn?
Mein Stell’ und Amt lass’ ich ihm gern.
POGNER
Nicht doch, ihr Meister! Lasst das jetzt fort.
Für wicht’gen Antrag bitt’ ich um’s Wort.
KOTHNER
Das habt ihr, Meister! Sprecht!
POGNER
Nun hört, und versteht mich recht! –
Das schöne Fest, Johannis-Tag,
ihr wisst, begeh’n wir morgen:
auf grüner Au’, am Blumenhag,
bei Spiel und Tanz im Lustgelag,
an froher Brust geborgen,
vergessen seiner Sorgen,
ein Jeder freut sich wie er mag.
Die Singschul’ ernst im Kirchenchor
die Meister selbst vertauschen;
mit Kling und Klang hinaus zum Thor
auf off’ne Wiese ziehn sie vor,
bei hellen Festes Rauschen;
das Volk sie lassen lauschen
dem Frei-Gesang mit Laien-Ohr.
Zu einem Werb’- und Wett-Gesang
gestellt sind Siegespreise,
und beide rühmt man weit und lang,
die Gabe wie die Weise.
Nun schuf mich Gott zum reichen Mann;
und giebt ein Jeder wie er kann,
so musst’ ich fleissig sinnen,
was ich gäb’ zu gewinnen,
dass ich nicht käm’ zu Schand’:
