Ah, che coraggio!<br />
Ardore d’ispirazione! –<br />
Voi, maestri, tacete allora e ascoltate!<br />
Ascoltate se Sachs vi scongiura! –<br />
Voi, signor censore! concedete un po’ di tregua!<br />
Lasciate che gli altri ascoltino! concedete solo<br />
[questo! –<br />
Invano! Tutti desidèri vani!<br />
A stento si percepisce la sua propria parola!<br />
Nessuno si cura del cavaliere: –<br />
lo chiamo coraggio, s’egli continua a cantare!<br />
Il cuore al posto giusto:<br />
un vero eroe-poeta!<br />
Se io, Hans Sachs, faccio versi e scarpe,<br />
