Wagner: Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg - atto secondo
perché accendano
il mio poetico istinto.
Ben conosco tutte le regole,
ben tengo misura e numero;
però salti e stecche
posson capitare a volte,
quando la testa, tutta piena di timore,
vuole osare aspirare
alla mano d’una giovin fanciulletta.
Io, scapolo,
portai qui senz’altro la mia pelle,
il mio onore, ufficio, dignità e pane,
perché a voi piaccia il mio canto,
e la giovinetta mi scelga,
se trovò buona la mia canzone.»
VICINI
68
dass an sie blusen
mein dicht’rischen Verstand.
Wohl kenn’ ich alle Regeln,
halte gut Maass und Zahl;
doch Sprung und Ueberkegeln
wohl passirt je einmal,
wann der Kopf, ganz voll Zagen,
zu frei’n will wagen
um ein’ jung Mägdleins Hand.
Ein Junggesell
trug ich mein Fell,
mein Ehr’, Amt, Würd’ und Brod zur Stell’,
dass euch mein Gesang wohl gefäll’,
und mich das Jungfräulein erwähl’,
wenn sie mein Lied gut fand.»
NACHBARN
(prima alcuni, poi sempre di più, durante il canto, aprono le finestre sul vicolo e sbirciano fuori)
Chi mugola là? Chi strilla con forza?
E permesso sì tardi la notte? –
Lasciateci in pace! È tempo di dormire! –
No, ma sentite come raglia l’asino! –
Voi qui! Tacete, e andate a quel paese!
Mugolate, strillate e urlate in altro luogo!
DAVID
Wer heult denn da? Wer kreischt mit Macht?
Ist das erlaubt so spät zur Nacht? –
Gebt Ruhe hier! ‘s ist Schlafenszeit! –
Nein, hört nur, wie der Esel schreit! –
Ihr da! Seid still, und scheert euch fort!
Heult, kreischt und schreit an and’rem Ort!
DAVID
(ha intanto aperto un poco l’imposta della finestra, proprio vicino a Beckmesser, e sbircia fuori)
Chi diavolo è? – E proprio là di fronte?
È Lene, – lo vedo chiaro!
Cristo santo! a lui ha dato appuntamento;
lui le piace più di me! –
Aspetta un po’! l’avrai! ti carezzo io la pelle! –
Vattene al diavolo, maledetto briccone!
Wer Teufel hier? – Und drüben gar?
Die Lene ist’s, – ich seh’ es klar!
Herr Je! das war’s, den hat sie bestellt;
der ist’s, der ihr besser als ich gefällt! –
Nun warte! du kriegst’s! dir streich’ ich das Fell!
Zum Teufel mit dir, verdammter Gesell’!
(David, armato d’un randello, è balzato fuori dalla finestra dietro il battente, fa a pezzi il liuto di Beckmesser
e si getta su di lui.)
MAGDALENE MAGDALENE
(che alla fine, per allontanare il censore, ha fatto cenni di esagerato assenso, adesso grida forte.-)
Ah cielo! David? Dio, che affanno!
Aiuto! aiuto! Si ammazzano!
BECKMESSER
(azzuffandosi con David)
Maledetto ragazzaccio! Mi lasci libero?
DAVID
Certo! Ti spezzo le membra!
(Continuano ad azzuffarsi e a picchiarsi insieme.)
Ach Himmel! David! Gott, welche Noth!
Zu Hülfe! zu Hülfe! Sie schlagen sich todt!
BECKMESSER
Verfluchter Kerl! Lässt du mich los?
DAVID
Gewiss! Die Glieder brech’ ich dir blos!
