What is happening at Disegno Ceramica?
Changes? Novelties? Internazionalism? A
little bit of all this and more, intelligently
blended by revamped company marketing.
Let’s take a step back.
In the Milan 2011 Furniture Show the company
presented some research it had carried
out with four designers on new design
expressions, as a kind of bridge between
East and West, when preparing the exhibition,
“The philosophy of water. Italian design
meets Japanese craftsmanship”. Objects
at the limit of experimentation, but with
their feet firmly rooted to the ground, since
they have been conceived for international
production and sale. Shower towels created
from traditional Kyoto kimonos, waterproofed
with rice starch, leather bags,
covered with micro suckers for continual
attachment and detachment on all surfaces,
paper mirrors made using ecological resin
baths, furniture in self-bearing braided steel
and accessories in technical bamboo, are
now a reality offered on the European market
by this company from Civita Castellana.
A catalogue that flanks Disegno Ceramica’s
traditional production, complete the concept
of a bathroom through the pencils of
Giuseppe Chigiotti, Roberto Marcatti, Paolo
Schianchi and Junzo Yamashita, with great
devotion to production detail on the part of
the companies of Kyoto and Japanese environmental
technological research. A novelty
for the European market that comprises two
key elements: marketing and product.
The first element concerns objects realised
in Japan and sold in the Orient by Iroori,
while the West will be covered by Disegno
Ceramica. A collaboration agreement that
sees the product in the show windows of
two markets, while firmly maintaining the
principle of item uniqueness. An important
feature that was at the heart of the design
brief assigned to the designers: to create
research objects in terms of form and content
that can be interpreted by both cultures,
without losing anything of beautiful Italian
form or the devotion to detail of Japanese
craftsmen. A marketing challenge that been
successfully executed, given that the objects
Che succede in casa Disegno Ceramica? Cambiamenti?
Novità? Internazionalità? Un po’ di tutto questo, sapientemente
dosato da un rinnovato marketing aziendale. Facciamo un
passo a ritroso.
italiano incontra l’artigianato giapponese”.
ecologica, mobili in acciaio intrecciato autoportanti e accessori
Giuseppe Chigiotti, Roberto Marcatti, Paolo Schianchi e Junzo
Giappone e commercializzati
in oriente da
Iroori, mentre l’occidente
sarà coperto da
Disegno Ceramica.
dettaglio dell’artigianato giapponese.
