diventano “forma zero”, «dove a predominare
è la volontà di tattilità».
Dal 1999 al 2001, con Isy System, è
tempo di sviluppare per Zucchetti un
sistema di rubinetti rivoluzionari che,
in ottica “reduce to max”, grazie al diametro
-, già all’inizio del
XXI secolo, ci siamo posti il problema
del competere con aziende straniere,
soprattutto del Far East, realizzando
quella produzione “just in time”
Rapsel, Positano, 1997
Zucchetti, Isystick, 2001
basis of the mood of those around them, «no longer realising a
marketing artifice, as in the previous example», but an evocation
of the future, in line with cinematographic icons launched
a few years earlier by Stanley Kubrick and Ridley Scott.
An inversion of this trend came with Positano, a freestanding
washbasin entirely in terracotta, created for Rapsel, and
which, in 1997, conveyed, through the
use of the baptismal font as an archetype,
«that sensoriality, that materialism
and non-design» which, for Thun,
became a “zero form”, «where it is the
desire for tactility that predominates».
From 1999 to 2001, with Isy System, it
was time to develop a system of revolutionary
faucets for Zucchetti which, in
a “reduce to max” context, thanks to the
reduced diameter applied to the mixer,
with respect to the washbasin plug hole,
needed to contain the connection with
water, ensured that only the outlet was
visible, as was the unit through which
it was possible to define flow intensity
and temperature.
«In this way, within a framework of
technological and semantic reduction
- this is the context - already from
the start of the XXI century we have
focused on the challenge of competing
with foreign companies, especially in
the Far East, realising “just in time”
production, thanks to which it is possible
to reduce stock and, therefore, the
cost of warehouse management».
With diametrically opposed criteria, on
the other hand, we have the Bellagio
series, once again for Zucchetti: «a
product, which four years later, was exclusively
conceived to satisfy customer
luxury requirements, five star hotels
and the villas of the super wealthy». The same approach was
taken, in 2007, regarding faucets in the Venezia series, produced
for Fantini in Murano glass.
With the Barcellona Collection, created for Rapsel, the materic
allure of stone returned to characterise a sensoriality conceived
for private bathrooms; while in the Pluviae design, the pipe
that carried water to the showerhead represented an attempt to
realise a new functionalism, one aimed at circumventing the
need for a shower box «which, in its widely varying forms -
