News ShowStoppers – Start The Show Up! On the eve of the opening of IFA 2015 the press event is an unprecedented success The official annual “media only” event starting-off IFA was a major success this year, having moved to a new location inside the south hall entrance. An estimated 800 journalists flocked to the event to see, touch and test the new wares of 71 exhibitors, an almost 30% hike on last year’s figure of 55. The event allows media professionals to gain information, close-up, on the latest products being launched by manufacturers, both big and small, from around the globe. Following is a selection of just a few, chosen by our team of journalists at the event. INKCASE – THE SECOND SCREEN FOR ANDROID AND IPHONE While you use the main screen of your phone for its normal functions, INKCASE is a clip-on case that uses e-ink to either reproduce a photo, useful information, or even as en e-book reader. Thanks to a dedicated app and Bluetooth connection, it’s child’s play to change the image on the back of one’s phone at will. CATALYST Catalyst is a lifestyle accessories brand founded by adventure enthusiasts Josh Wright and June Lai with the aim of inspiring people to get outside and connect with nature. At Showstoppers they introduced t h e Catalyst waterproof cover for the AppleWatch. The cover features an exposed face for direct access to the touch screen. Catalyst also produces matching waterproof covers for the iPad and iPhone. NETATMO ADDS WIND-SPEED MONITOR The French-based company already renowned for it’s connected weather stations has added a new module enabling users to monitor wind speed at home from anywhere in the world via the netatmo smartphone app. The netatmo “collection” of devices allows users to maximise their well-being thanks to detailed monitoring of temperature, humidity, outdoor pollutants, sound levels and indoor CO2 levels (which, it has been found, are often above the recommended 1000 ppm in many homes).
